As will be shown here, the U.S. federal government, under President Donald Trump, is repeating the very same deception of the public, in regard to Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, that it had perpetrated back in 2002, against Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, under U.S. President George W. Bush. (By contrast, and for secret reasons, the U.S. federal government does everything possible to downplay the barbarisms, such as are occurring in Yemen, that are perpetrated by the fundamentalist Sunni Kings of Saudi Arabia, and Emirs of Qatar, even while exaggerating the barbarisms by the fundamentalist Shiite clerics who control Iran — a key ally of the secular and non-fundamentalist Shiite leader of Syria.
The U.S. ‘news’ media display no curiosity, at all, to understand, much less to explain to their public, why that partiality of the U.S. government, in favor of fundamentalist Sunni governments, against any Shiite governments, exists; but, all of the 9/11 jihadists were fundamentalist Sunnis, and Al Qaeda itself is a fundamentalist Sunni operation, as is ISIS; and these facts have something to do with that ‘mystery’, of why the U.S. ‘news’ media and government are so partial in favor of fundamentalist Sunnis, against Shiites. America’s soldiers are actually fighting foreign wars for foreign powers who are claimed to be ‘allies’, but who are actually the ones that invade America and slaughter Americans.)
Here will be documented that Donald Trump is now clearly following in George W. Bush’s (and Barack Obama’s) footsteps, being advised by liars, who deceive the public into invading, on false pretexts — the chief crime for which the Nazi military leaders at Nuremberg were tried and executed. Now it’s America’s leaders, who should be in the docks. This is an ugly reality, in which America’s press is complicit by refusing to report it. Indeed, America’s press is essential to the success of the government’s fraud, which certainly succeeded against Saddam Hussein in 2003, and which is again succeeding against Bashar al-Assad now.
There is a debate as to whether George W. Bush himself was a liar (which he certainly was), but there is no debate about whether his advisors were liars (which they also were). For example, regarding “Saddam’s WMDs,” Bush’s Vice-President Dick Cheney said, on Aug. 26, 2002:
“Simply stated, there’s no doubt that Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction.”
There certainly WAS “doubt” (and there was, in fact, no evidence at all that any active WMD program still existed in Iraq at the time when the United States invaded in 2003 and destroyed Iraq by our invasion). Dick Cheney was, quite simply, lying, there. People who deny it are of only two types: arrogant in their ignorance of the facts, or else outright liars themselves.
(Indeed, the infamous neoconservative Bill Kristol, and other neocons at that time, were citing Cheney’s allegation prominently as providing ‘a compelling case’ that we should invade. It was no such thing, and the fascist — euphemistically called “neoconservative” — Kristol subsequently campaigned to get James Mattis elected as the next President after Barack Obama, but succeeded ultimately only in getting President-elect Donald Trump to appoint Mattis to run U.S. foreign policy instead, from the post of Mattis’s being Trump’s Pentagon chief and actual top foreign-affairs advisor.) In today’s America, such fascists aren’t embarrassed and shunned (much less executed, or otherwise dealt with as war-criminals) — they remain influential and powerful, in today’s Amerika.
Cheney was declared by the ‘news’media to have been the nation’s “Chief Operating Officer” in G.W. Bush’s Presidency, but that appellation was valid primarily for Bush’s foreign policies (including all military matters). So, that’s what we’re talking about here, the policies that have international significance, these being the policies regarding which any nation’s aristocracy tends to be the most unified, and are therefore the most important to America’s oligarchs — though often ignored by the general public, and left by them simply to trust the President on, and so we invade, again. And again. Very profitable, for the chief stockholders in the weapons-making firms.
The reliance that Bush had placed upon his Vice President, big Dick Cheney, to make determinations about whether or not to invade, is now the reliance that Trump places upon his Secretary of ‘Defense’, today’s equally soft-spoken big stick, James Mattis, to decide whether or not to invade. Although Mattis is unlike Cheney in regards to torture, both of these two key Presidential advisors, Cheney and Mattis, share a lot in common, and Trump’s placing military decisions in Mattis’s hands is, as Kristol knew, very much like a second G.W. Bush Presidency, just combined with a bit of the more ‘proper’ neoconservatism of Barack Obama’s Presidency. (Obama was actually even worse than Bush was in some important respects — but a much more skillful liar than Bush was.)
On Friday April 21st, Mattis said at a press conference,
“There can be no doubt in the international community’s mind that Syria has retained chemical weapons in violation of its agreement and its statement that it had removed them all. There is no longer any doubt,” just as there wasn’t any doubt according to Cheney back in 2002 — “no doubt that Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction.”
But, just as Cheney lied then about Saddam Hussein, in order to invade, Mattis lies now about Bashar al-Assad, in order to invade. (And here was that very same authority disproving the allegation against Assad, back on 14 January 2014: disproving then Barack Obama’s Administration’s continuing lies alleging at that time, that Assad instead of the U.S. and its allies were behind the 2013 “red line” sarin gas attack in Syria — and Seymour Hersh’s similar finding, in confirmation of that Obama-lie, via Britain’s MI6).
So, just like with George W. Bush, U.S. President Donald Trump is relying upon not only the advice, but also the military judgment, of clear-cut liars. They lie their way into invasions, just like Hitler did. And, just like happened with President George W. Bush, the debate among historians will be as to whether President Donald Trump is merely a fool who demands to be encircled by yes-men, or is, himself, instead, a knowing liar, who can be distinguished from President Barack Obama solely by the latter’s having been a far slicker liar than Bush or Trump (such as Obama displayed himself to be, here, and here).
Meanwhile, Trump helps his new-found friends, the fundamentalist-Sunni royal owners of Saudi Arabia, to create a famine and slaughter Shiites in their neighboring country of Yemen, after the U.S. had sold $130 billion in weapons to those Saudi royals and their fellow fundamentalist-Sunni royals (and other Sunnis) assisting in this slaughter of Yemenis.
Instead of Trump’s doing war against “radical Islamic terrorists”, they turn out to be his friends.

The best reporting on the depth of America’s dictatorship is probably that being done by Atlanta Georgia’s NBC-affiliated, Gannett-owned, TV Channel “11 Alive”, WXIA television, “The Investigators” series of local investigative news reports, which show, up close and at a cellularly detailed level, the way things actually work in today’s America. Although it’s only local, it displays what meets the legal standards of the US federal government in actually any state in the union; so, it exposes the character of the US government, such that what’s shown to be true here, meets America’s standard for ‘democracy’, or else the federal ...

The presidential campaign has mortified millions of Americans in part because the presidency has become far more dangerous in recent times. Since 9/11, we have lived in a perpetual emergency which supposedly justifies trampling the law and Constitution. And the illegalities will not end after Tuesday’s vote count. Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have signaled that they will perpetuate power grabs in the next four years.
For generations, politicians have touted voting as a magical process which almost automatically protects the ...
The United States will try to provoke anti-government sentiment and encourage the leaders of the right-wing opposition to lead a coup in Caracas.
The US sanctions against Venezuela, signed into law by President Barack Obama on December 18, 2014, resulted from charges of protestors’ rights being violated by the socialist government of President Nicolás Maduro.
The sanctions allow the Obama administration to deny visas and freeze the assets of Venezuelan officials accused of violating the rights of anti-government groups. These groups, comprised mainly of the right-wing opposition, have been leading violent protests in Caracas since last February. US leaders blame the Venezuelan ...

There is less talk about the rump-Ukraine in the news these days, especially in the western corporate media, and there is a good reason for that: that short-lived Urkonazi “Banderastan” is falling apart. This is hardly surprising since the entire concept was never viable in the first place. Let’s remember how it all began.
It is crucial to remember that there was no spontaneous revolution or insurrection in the Ukraine, the Euromaidan had nothing to do with Europe and everything to do with the USA. Oh sure, the Ukrainian people were told that it was about “joining the EU”, but that ...
GR Editor’s Note
The following article by professor Eric Waddell was first published twelve years ago by Global Research in December 2003 in the immediate wake of the invasion and occupation of Iraq by US and British forces, with a postscript added in 2007. The article provides an incisive historical perspective on America’s “long war” against humanity, which is being carried out under a fake humanitarian mandate.
Let us be under no illusions as to the intent of the US and its allies.
We are dealing with World Conquest under the disguise of a “Global War on Terrorism”.

Trump the Anti-Globalist Champion of the People?
Many Americans who’ve been supporting President-elect Trump see him as the populist leader who will save America from ruin. Trump supporters have been unfairly marginalized and pigeonholed by the MSM broad stroke as white supremacy extremists bent on plunging America back into a new Jim Crowism era and a second Civil War along with a growing number of angry, uneducated, disenfranchised blue collar, mostly white male redneck loser types. Despite a spike in racist graffiti and vandalism since the election, this gross overgeneralization is the Hillary/Soros/Rothschild/MSM’s desperate attempt to discredit Trump’s victory while Soros ...
Israel’s Maariv newspaper has revealed that the government of the Zionist state is planning to drop a political bombshell in the coming weeks by presenting a bill in the Knesset (parliament) calling for the annexation of land occupied since 1967. It is likely to have the support of the majority of Knesset members. The newspaper added that the right wing has chosen this time for the move ahead of the US presidential election; America, it is believed, will be too preoccupied to care about what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Preliminary talks about a first stage have been held, ...
Despite the lack of evidence linking Orlando mass murderer Omar Mateen to Daesh (ISIS) in any operational (direct) sense, the first inclination of U.S. Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was to renew American bombing of Syria, Iraq and Libya— the very nations that were destroyed by U.S. bombs directed by Mrs. Clinton and from whence Daesh arose. In so doing Mrs. Clinton made it evident that she is an unrepentant militarist whose bloodlust, combined with her longstanding interest in promoting American business interests, ties her to the U.S. imperial project of the last century and one-half. The precise moral difference between ...
In the early morning hours of April 1-2 Azerbaijan launched a major military offensive into the disputed region Nagorno-Karabakh (NK) that’s been controlled and defended by NK Armenian forces since the Russian brokered truce ended a bloody three year war in 1994. While Azeri President Ilham Aliyev was flying back to Baku after meeting 24 hours earlier with John Kerry in Washington who claimed “an ultimate resolution” had been reached, Azerbaijan was already once again at war with the NK Armenians.
The surprise element combined with the full scale major military operation spearheading a three pronged attack on Nagorno-Karabakh contact line from the southern, ...
Universal Periodic Review reveals longstanding unwillingness to fully commit to obligations of pertinent human rights treaties.
On 11 May 2015, the United States of America participated in its second Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The Universal Periodic Review is meant to be a mechanism by which all UN Member States are periodically assessed on their human rights record. The process allows countries to present a report of their efforts to promote and improve human rights within their country. It also affords the Working Group of the UPR, comprised of member countries of the Human Rights Council, the opportunity to assess the human ...

The U.S. government’s plan to conquer Russia is based upon a belief in, and the fundamental plan to establish, “Nuclear Primacy” against Russia — an American ability to win a nuclear war against, and so conquer, Russia.
This concept became respectable in U.S. academic and governmental policymaking circles when virtually simultaneously in 2006 a short-form and a long-form version of an article endorsing the concept, which the article’s two co-authors there named “nuclear primacy,” were published respectively in the world’s two most influential journals of international affairs, Foreign Affairs from the Council on Foreign Relations, and International Security from Harvard. (CFR got the more popular ...
Post-colonial empires are complex organizations. They are organized on a multi-tiered basis, ranging from relative autonomous national and regional allies to subservient vassal states, with variations in between.
In the contemporary period, the idea of empire does not operate as a stable global structure, though it may aspire and strive for such. While the US is the major imperial power, it does not dominate some leading global political-economic and military powers, like Russia and China.
Imperial powers, like the US, have well-established regional satellites but have also suffered setbacks and retreats from independent local economic and political challengers.
Empire is not a fixed ...
Did you know that Washington keeps 450 nuclear ICBMs on “hair-trigger alert”? Washington thinks that this makes us “safe.” The reasoning, if it can be called reason, is that by being able to launch in a few minutes, no one will try to attack the US with nuclear weapons. US missiles are able to get on their way before the enemy’s missiles can reach the US to destroy ours.
If this makes you feel safe, you need to read Eric Schlosser’s book, Command and Control.
The trouble with hair-triggers is that they make mistaken, accidental, and unauthorized launch more likely. Schlosser provides ...
Ukraine is an East European territory which was originally forming a western part of the Russian Empire from the mid-17th century. That is a present-day independent state and separate ethnolinguistic nation as a typical example of Benedict Anderson’s theory-model of the “imagined community” – a self-constructed idea of the artificial ethnic and linguistic-cultural identity. According to Anderson, the nation is abstract and firstly subjective social construction that defy simple, objective definition yet have been for the last two centuries the crucial basis of conflict in world politics and international relations, through assertion of their expressed nationalism.[i] However, nationalism is quite ...
The United States, Germany, Canada, Israel and the United Kingdom launched "Operation Jericho"
Once again, the Obama administration has tried to force the change of a political regime that resists it. On February 12, an Academi (formerly Blackwater) plane disguised as an aircraft of the Venezuelan army was supposed to bomb the presidential palace and kill President Nicolas Maduro. The plotters had planned to place former MP María Corina Machado in power and have her immediately acclaimed by former Latin American presidents.

The missile attack on a US ship off the coast of Yemen was a major news event, but the subsequent follow up story, that it may never have happened, was either ignored by mainstream media or intentionally covered up. The whole thing has the same odor as the Gulf of Tonkin incident that never occurred.
Does history repeat itself? Sure does seem like it. That is if you compare America’s entry into the Vietnam civil war, with America’s latest entry into the war in Yemen.
Don’t be mistaken, we have been at war with Yemen for a year now. America sided with ...
One of the West’s top points in condemning Vladimir Putin’s “regime” since 2007 has been his alleged suppression of democratic institutions, including an assault on media freedom and imposition of government-directed propaganda. This week, the accusation was repeated in a resolution of the European Parliament calling for stronger counter-measures in defense of European values against “information warfare” from Moscow.
The charges — that Russian media are only an instrument of state propaganda directed at the domestic population to keep Russian citizens in line and at foreign audiences to sow dissent among Russia’s neighbors and within the European Union — are taken ...
