“Yugoslavia” Again: Terrorist 007

The US media has done it again. In a breaking news story on Fox News on Friday, September 28, 2007, Fox reporter Catherine Herridge used the term “former Yugoslavia” twice in the Fox story “Terrorist 007”. The term Yugoslavia was used deliberately to conceal the fact that the Al Qaeda terrorist known as Terrorist 007, or Irhabi 007 in Arabic, Younes Tsouli, had ties to Bosnia and to Bosnian Muslims who planned terrorist attacks.

Fox News sought to conceal this Al Qaeda connection to Bosnia by using the term “former Yugoslavia” in place of “Bosnia”. This was deliberate and planned. Someone with a red pen crossed out the word “Bosnia” and inserted the bogus term “former Yugoslavia” in its place. Reuters, on the other hand, used the correct term, “Bosnia”. Younes Tsouli’s accomplices were arrested in Bosnia. Fox News, however, says that the arrests were made in a “safe house in the former Yugoslavia”. Irhabi 007 was tied to “recent terror plots … in the former Yugoslavia”, using “Yugoslavia” instead of the correct term, “Bosnia”. FBI Director Robert Mueller used the correct term “Bosnia” in his comments. Where did Fox News get this idea to falsify the facts?

It is similar to what happened after the Fort Dix arrests when Albanian Muslims were described as from the “former Yugoslavia” when they were from Kosovo and Macedonia. The US news media did not want Americans to put “Albanian”, “Muslim”, “Al Qaeda”, “Kosovo”, and “terrorism” together. Even in the Fox News report on Irhabi 007, the fact that the Fort Dix terror suspects are ethnic Albanian Muslims is censored and deleted.

The goal was to deliberately mislead and lie to the American people. Obviously Fox News does not want Americans to associate “Bosnia” with Al Qaeda or with terrorism. This clip was transmitted to all the Fox local channels across the United States. The objective is to deceive and trick the average American viewer who will not think twice about this brainwashing technique. Fox pulled a fast one. And they got busted.

Younes Tsouli and his accomplices, Tariq al-Daour and Waseem Mughal, were arrested after a video was seized in Bosnia in 2005. The video showed Bosnian Muslim Mirshad or Mirsad Bektasevic, known by his alias Maximus, posing with weapons and explosives. He is shown with accomplices who announce that they are planning a terrorist attack in Sarajevo. The BBC called the proposed terrorist attack the “Bosnian conspiracy”. Younes and Mughal had Bektasevic’s cell phone number and had exchanged messages with him over the internet. Three other Bosnian Muslims were implicated in the terrorist plot: Bajro Ikanovic, Amir Bajric, and Senad Hasanovic. They were later convicted of plotting terrorist attacks in Bosnia and in Europe and sentenced to prison terms. Bektasevic declared in the video:

“We are Muslims. The Lions are coming. We are ready to attack.”

Bosnian Muslims were historically regarded as “the Lions of Islam”, the most fanatical Muslim jihadists, during the Ottoman Turkish Empire period. This is the part of the story Fox News wanted to censor and suppress.

In the Bosnian Muslim video, which planned terrorist attacks, a spoken voice-over declared:

“Brothers are preparing for an attack here. They are showing you the things they will use in the attack. … These brothers will attack … those who are killing our brothers and Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Non-Muslims are referred to as “Kuffar”, a derogatory term for non-Muslims. Bosnian Muslims were clearly targeting US and European military forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a part of the story that was also suppressed and censored in the US media.

The Fox News deception is transparent and shocking because it is definitely not accurate or true. The use of “Yugoslavia” in this context is not appropriate. During the events in question, Bosnia was an independent country and not part of the “former Yugoslavia” in late 2005 when the Bosnian Muslims were arrested. Can Fox News be ignorant of the fact that Bosnia had seceded from Yugoslavia in 1992? That stretches credulity to the breaking point. Has Fox News forgotten already that the US government and media were the main sponsors of an independent Muslim Bosnia in 1992? The news video, “Terrorist 007”, is on the Fox News website.

This is a case where we have caught the US media red-handed engaging in brainwashing and propaganda. It is a bit of self-delusion and repression. Yugoslavia? Someone should tell them at Fox News that Yugoslavia does not exist any longer. And someone should also tell them that such crass and mindless media deceptions amounting to subtle brainwashing are inappropriate in a democracy. We ain’t brainless cattle the last time I checked… not yet.

Embracing the US-NATO War Criminals Who Destroyed Our Country
Seventeen years have passed and many people have already forgotten that the U. S. and a number of other NATO countries collectively waged one of the most destructive wars on the European continent since the end of World War II–the modern aerial bombing campaign against the Serbian people. In the tradition of the New World Order, this “intervention” wasn’t called “war.” It was argued by various Western politicians and the corporate media that the bombing campaign was directed against the late Serbian President Milošević and his “propaganda machine.”[i] In fact, the NATO bombs loaded with depleted uranium[ii] were falling on ...

United States War Crimes
Human Rights Day, December 10, 2016, we bring to the attention of our readers an important article published in 2002 on the record of US war crimes. The issue of War Crimes emerged after World War I at the Versailles Conference, but it was not until the end of World War II that a more comprehensive definition of what constitutes war crimes was developed. First among new international conventions addressing war crimes was the 1950 Charter of the Nuremberg Tribunal. Its fundamental premise was that the conduct of war in violation of international treaties was a crime against peace. Ill treatment ...

Greater Albania: A United States project against the Orthodox world?
Wednesday, December 5, 2012, the Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha advocated granting Albanian citizenship to all Albanians, wherever they reside. This statement was made during a visit of the city of Vlora where the independence of the Albanian state was declared, only 100 years ago. At the time Albania had just liberated itself from Ottoman rule. This declaration follows a separate statement, collective this time, that Sali Berisha had made with his Kosovar counterpart Hashim Thaci a few weeks ago, promising the union of all Albanians. The place was, I must say, well chosen since the vast majority of the inhabitants ...

Pseudo-Democracy, Reparations, and Actual Democracy
It is hardly a coincidence that the Declaration of Independence, Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations, and Johann Friedrich Blumenbach’s On the Natural Variety of Mankind were all published within a year of one another, for each supports a necessary aspect of a larger, integrated project. Not only was the rationale for seizing political power (provided by the Declaration) supported by Smith’s popular text (which justified rule by the wealthy business class). Because this wealth and power was contingent on slavery, and territories seized by conquest, Blumenbach’s theory that the “Caucasian race” (a designation he coined, by the way) was the supreme race was ...

As the Election Turns: Trump the Anti-Neocon, Hillary the New Darling of the Neocons
Krista Kennell | Shutterstock.com Just as the Republican convention demonized Hillary (“Lock Her Up”), so the Democrats are demonizing Donald Trump. They refuse to support any policy that he backs, even when he says something progressive. One might think that at least Bernie’s supporters would applaud Trump’s left-wing transformation of the old conservative, pro-corporate neocon Cheney-Bush core of the Republican Party. But nobody had a single good word to say about Trump’s assertions that he would wind down confrontation with Russia, reduce military spending on the grounds that NATO is obsolete, and oppose the TPP and TTIP as well as rewrite NAFTA’s terms. The Democrats ...

Do We Really Want War With Russia?
War with Russia appears increasingly likely as the US and its NATO satraps continue their military provocations of Moscow. As dangers mount, our foolish politicians should all be forced to read, and then re-read, Prof. Christopher Clark’s magisterial book, ‘The Sleepwalkers: How Europe Went to War in 1914.’ What is past increasingly appears prologue. Prof. Clark carefully details how small cabals of anti-German senior officials in France, Britain and Russia engineered World War I, a dire conflict that was unnecessary, idiotic, and illogical. Germany and Austria-Hungary of course share some the blame, but to a much lesser degree than the bellicose French, ...

A Geopolitical Convergence Between The US And Russia
The end of the Cold War era in 1989 brought during the first coming years a kind of international optimism that the idea of the „end of history“ really can be realized as it was a belief in no reason for the geopolitical struggles between the most powerful states. The New World Order, spoken out firstly by M. Gorbachev in his address to the UN on December 7th, 1988 was originally seen as the order of equal partnership in the world politics reflecting „radically different international circumstances after the Cold War“.[1] Unfortunately, the Cold War era finished without the „end of ...

The Myth of Hiroshima
With rare exception, the question of whether the atomic bombs were necessary to end World War Two is debated only deep within the safety of academic circles. Could a land invasion have been otherwise avoided? Would more diplomacy have achieved the same ends without the destruction of two cities? Could an atomic test on a deserted island have convinced the Japanese? Was the surrender instead driven primarily by the entry of the Soviets into the Pacific War, which, by historical accident, took place two days after Hiroshima—and the day before Nagasaki was immolated? But it is not only the history of the ...
