On January 19th, 2016 on the bilateral meeting between Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and the official representatives of the European Jewish Congress the latter applied to Putin to take necessary steps for the sake to improve the generally bad position of the Jewish community on the Old Continent. Surprisingly, the President, not so much as a joke, invited both all the present-day European Jews and those Jews who left the USSR simply to immigrate to Russia.
At the first glance, one can say – very gentle and even democratic move by the President. However, lets a little bit to analyze the case.
According to the Jewish representatives, there are at least two reasons for the „unbearable“ position of the European Jews: 1) Anti-Semitism, and 2) the influx of Muslim immigrants from the Middle East to Europe. Therefore, at least for the Jews, these two reasons are quite enough to emigrate from Europe, and for the President, the same reasons are also quite enough to invite all the European Jews to immigrate to Russia. Here, we will not discuss the question of why the European Jews do not want to emigrate to their own national state – Israel (and the USA as well), but the question is why the President is inviting one nation to be settled in Russia without any ethnic, racial, linguistic, cultural or national connection with his country?
Nevertheless, a more serious question arose in this matter: do only the EuroJews has such right (as „chosen people“?) as a privilege to emigrate to („promised land“?) Russia from the Euroterror or such President’s invitation is democratically equally open for all people, ethnic groups, confessional minorities, etc. who are experiencing the same or even (much) harsher „unbearable“ living conditions and terror in their home countries and social environments? For instance, Kosovo Serbs.
If we compare living conditions of the EuroJews with Kosovo Serbs today the conclusion can be only that those two cases have simply nothing in common with each other at least for the next four reasons and facts:
1. The European anti-Semitism today is not direct, brutal, or open but rather hidden and of a soft nature. It exists but it is nothing to be a real reason for the Jews as a group or as individuals to emigrate somewhere. At least in comparison with many other ethnic groups or minorities across the same continent, but above all, we would say, with Kosovo Serbs. The Euro-Jews are not at least forced to wear yellow strips on their clothes but some Kosovo Serbs do that voluntarily as a matter of protest.
2. The Jews in present-day Europe are not living in any kind of ghettos as it was before (the first ghetto for the Jews was created in Venice in 1535 followed by Dubrovnik) differently from the Serbs in Kosovo southern from Kosovska Mitrovica or the Roman Catholics in Belfast. The Serbs in central and southern Kosovo, totally different from the EuroJews, are living in a real ghetto situation and even in the home imprisonment with everyday fear to be killed by the local Muslim Albanians if they leave the home or village without escort by the international „peacekeeping“ forces. Many Kosovo Serbs are transported even by the armors to the shops, health centers, etc.
3. The Jewish shrines (synagogues) in Europe are not attacked, destroyed, burnt, or desecrated as is exactly the case with the Serbian shrines (Christian Orthodox) in Kosovo. The Muslim Albanians are systematically cleaning Kosovo from all Christian elements during the last 16 years (from June 1999) when the NATO’s occupation of Kosovo started. The destruction of Kosovo Christianity is at the same time followed by the brutal Islamization of the land: for instance (like in Bosnia-Herzegovina after 1995) there are three times more erected mosques in Kosovo after June 1999 in comparison with 400 years of the Ottoman occupation.
4. The Jews in Europe are not exposed today to any kind of pogroms, differently to Kosovo Serbs who are in fact experiencing not only the ethnic cleansing by the Muslim Albanians but even a genocide. The most brutal pogrom against the Serbs was done in Kosovo on March 17-19th, 2004 with three days and three nights of the „Kristallnacht“ as a part of the policy of Islamic terror in the Balkans [see, Sh. Shay, Islamic Terror, and the Balkans, Transaction Publishers, 2006; Ch. Deliso, The Coming Balkan Caliphate: The Threat of Radical Islam to Europe and the West, Westport, CT: Praeger Security International, 2007]. As a consequence, there are today only about 100.000 Serbs in Kosovo of whom the overwhelming majority (about 90.000) are living in the northern part of the region which is not under the administration by a (quasi)government in Prishtina composed by the ex-Kosovo Liberation Army’s criminals.
Here we came to the crux of a matter. In 2011 Kosovo Serbs launched a campaign to apply for Russian citizenship and even to emigrate to Russia. However, Putin’s administration was at that time „deaf“ to such an idea. Are the living conditions of Kosovo Serbs were (and are) not enough „unbearable“ in comparison to those of the Euro-Jews? Obviously no. Contrary, the Serbs in Kosovo can only dream to be in the Jewish position in Europe. Finally, Russia and Russians have much more in common with the Serbs than with the Jews. Why the President discriminates Kosovo Serbs in comparison with the EuroJews is not known but as a good example of Russian-Serbian solidarity and brotherhood he can take from the Empress Catherine the Great who even established a separate territory for the Serbs in Russia – Nuova Serbia (more or less covering the present-day territory of Novorossija).

This article is excerpted from Fawaz A. Gerges’s forthcoming book, ISIS: A History.Although the spectacular surge of ISIS must be contextualized within the social and political circumstances that exist in Iraq and Syria and beyond, the group’s worldview and ideology should be taken equally seriously. Ideology is, after all, the superglue that binds Salafi-jihadists known as revolutionary religious activists or global jihadists of the ISIS variety to each other. The Salafi-jihadist movement emerged from an alliance between ultraconservative Saudi Salafism (or Wahhabism) and revolutionary Egyptian Islamism which was inspired by the Egyptian master theorist, Sayyid Qutb. Two Kosovo Albanian Muslim muhajedeens (with the passports of Republic of Kosovo) as members of ISIL in Syria in 2015 (Official ISIL’s video material)After the 9/11, a worldwide “War on terror” begun in order to disband and neutralize Islamic terrorist networks across the globe. The main focus of the largest anti-terrorist campaign in history is focused in the Middle East area, as well as in Afghanistan.The Balkan Peninsula is the European area where this campaign has also taken place, with numerous arrests and a continuous effort into riding the fundamentalist out of the area. The question arising though, is how ...
The Balkan Peninsula together with the region of South-East Europe historically has been one of the most important focal points of the Russian foreign policy, cultural influences and attempts to spread an ideology of the Orthodox solidarity and the Slavic reciprocity. These ideas are common to almost all trends of the Russian public life in the past and today.
After Russia lost the Great Crimean War of 1853–1856 she intensified its cultural influence in the region of the South-East Europe for the purposes of beating the Habsburg (the Roman-Catholic) rivalry and to spread an idea of the Pan-Slavism in this part ...
In Kukavica village near Rogatica (nowadays Bosnia and Herzegovina), today was marked 27 years since crimes against Serbian civilians committed by Bosnian Muslims, members of the so-called Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 27, 1992.In an attack on a column of Serbian civilians, involving about 1,000 elderly people, women and children on tractors and passenger vehicles, Bosnian Muslim extremists killed 26 and injured 80 Serbs.Rogatica Mayor Milorad Jagodic called this a monstrous crime as among the victims are a child of 11 and 82 years old man.“This was a column of innocent people who were looking for refuge and ...
Since the disintegration of Yugoslavia in the nineties, its former constituent republics have been mired in a state of perpetual conflict.Nowhere is this more apparent than the contested state of Kosovo.In 1998, Albanian separatists in the Serbian province of Kosovo i Metohija began a campaign of attacks, with the express objective of creating a unified, ethnically homogenous, Greater Albanian state. Spearheaded by an organization known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), which is widely regarded by many nations, including the United States, as a terrorist organization, ethnic Albanian militants attacked Serbian security forces, and terrorized civilians in a brutally violent ...

The Balkans have returned to the forefront of European geopolitics as a result of the New Cold War, with the US and Russia facing off in a proxy war over the planned Balkan Stream pipeline through the region. The geopolitical circumstances have evolved since the 1990s, when all of the former Yugoslavia was lumped together as the Western Balkans. In order to accommodate for the changing strategic reality in the region, it’s necessary to carve the Central Balkans out of the idea of the former, and the new division of the Balkans into Western, Central, and Eastern regions simplifies the ...

I come from a member state of the European Union which is meant to uphold the rights of all religions, political ideologies, acknowledge national and cultural rights, and is meant to spread “European brotherhood.” However, it appears that this does not apply to the Orthodox Christians of Bosnia and Kosovo respectively because not only have they been abandoned but outside Islamic powers are stepping up their Islamization agenda in both Bosnia and Kosovo.
In Kosovo the de-Christianization of the Orthodox Christian community continues and hundreds of Orthodox Christian churches have been destroyed but little was done to protect this community. It ...
The Slavic Congresses
The idea of South Slavic political unification was surely a part of a broader pan-Slavic movement and ideology. If from nothing else, it can be proved from a very fact that the official flag of all kind of Yugoslavia (from 1918 to 2003) was, in fact, an insignia of the 19th century pan-Slavic movement, whose anthem was also used as an official state’s anthem of Socialist Yugoslavia (“Hey Slavs”).
The first clear political expression of an idea of pan-Slavic reciprocity, solidarity, and possible unification was done at the First Slavic Congress held in Prague from May 5th to June ...
The Green Corridor is a geopolitical concept with two meanings: (a) The Islamists’ goal of creating a contiguous chain of Muslim-dominated polities from Istanbul in the southeast to northwestern Bosnia, a mere 120 miles from Austria ; and (b) The process of increasing ethno-religious assertiveness among the Muslim communities along that route. The process entails four key elements:
Expanding the area of those communities’ demographic dominance;
Establishing and/or expanding various entities under Muslim political control with actual or potential claim to sovereign statehood;
Enhancing the dominant community’s Islamic character and identity within those entities, with the parallel decrease of presence and power of non-Muslim groups; and
Prompting Muslim communities’ ambitions for ever bolder ...

The forthcoming USA-Russian joint action against ISIS together with Iraqi-Syrian and Turkish military advance will soon neutralize ISIS possibilities to claim a stake of a statehood in the Levant region. Nonetheless, the number of radicalized persons in Europe is increasing as also the number of Jihadist fighters returning back into the EU-thus at first glance we should see a rise in the terrorism phenomenon in the coming years.
Furthermore the existence of multiple fronts where Jihadists are trained and fight nowadays such as :Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Sahel region, Nigeria, Sudan , Yemen, Sinai; brings us to the conclusion that we ...
In its entire history, there has been very little time when the United States has been at peace. As it wages its many wars and ‘interventions’, the stated goal is always something few people could argue with: fostering democracy when a struggling people are resisting tyranny, removing threats to U.S. security, or punishing a cruel dictator for unspeakable misdeeds.
Yet on closer scrutiny, these reasons are seldom valid. They simply hide the true purposes of U.S. military involvement, which are power and wealth. Starting with the barbarous destruction of Native American culture in order to gain farmlands, right through to the ...
Will the election of Republican George W. Bush as President usher in changes in foreign policy with regard to Serbia, Yugoslavia, and the Balkans? Will there be a continuation of „humanitarian interventionism“, „military humanism“, „economic globalism“ and „globalization“?
The Bush Administration foreign policy team has rejected the selective humanitarian interventionism of the Bill Clinton/Al Gore Administration, as espoused by Madeleine Albright and James Rubin. John Hulsman, Balkans adviser to Bush, announced that Bush was concerned about „imperial overstretch“ and has rejected a foreign policy that uses the US military in „nation building“. Hulsman has announced a „philosophical sea change“ in Balkans ...
Kosovo is Clinton Country: a 10-foot-high statue of Bill overlooks “Bill Clinton Boulevard” in the capital city of Pristina. Hillary is also memorialized in what has become the crime capital of Europe: right off the street named for her husband is a store named “Hillary,” featuring women’s clothing modeled after the putative Democratic party nominee for President. Pantsuits figure prominently. As Vice puts it: “While former President Bill Clinton has had a boulevard named after him, it’s without a doubt that his wife’s the real star out here.” Why is that?As Gail Sheehy pointed out in her biography of Hillary, ...

Of the 22 Nazi concentration camps operating in the clerical fascist state of Croatia during World War II, nearly half were under the command of Roman Catholic priests.They were responsible for the grisly slaughter of hundreds of thousands of men, women and children. Serbs, Roma, and Jews were specifically targeted for extermination.Catholic clergy was especially keen to eradicate the Serbian Orthodox Church. This led to the murder of Christian Serbian Priests, forced conversions of Serbian Christians, and the destruction of 450 Christian Orthodox Churches during World War II.“Kill all Serbs. And when you finish come here, to the Church, and ...
Maybe it is the best agreement ever signed… Maybe by applying it, Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, will enter an era of great friendship and enormous prosperity…Maybe… The only small detail is the majority of the deputies of the Greek Parliament do not know the agreement is so good. Their parties declared they are opposing the agreement and they won’t ratify it. Even the An.Ell. party, which is the junior partner of SYRIZA in the government, does not know how profitable is this agreement. If we have to use force, it is because we are America.
We are the indispensable nation
(Madeleine K. Albright, February 1998)
As a matter of very fact, regardless to the reality in global politics that the Cold War was over in 1989, Washington continued to drive toward the getting the status of a global hyperpower at any expense for the rest of the world. The Balkans undoubtedly became the first victim in Europe of the old but esthetically repacked American global imperialism. The US' administration is a key player during the last 25 years of the Balkan crisis caused by the ...
